Hey friends!! I know this post is a little late, but I’m super excited about it still because a) it was fun to write b) I love sharing advice with you guys and c) this is my most highly-requested post EVER! Since starting Instagram about a year and a half ago, I’ve learned a lot. From how to scout locations to the best ways to get engagement, a lot of trial-and-error has gotten me pretty far. So… today I’m writing to you about How to Pose for Instagram Photos! This is a 3-part series (check out part 1 and 2 linked below). In the first two posts, I shared 4 tips for posing and in this one, I am sharing 8 of my go-to favorite poses for you to try! You’ll be posing like a fashion blogger in minutes 😉
I took these photos within about 15 minutes and did them right in my front yard to show you all how easy they are to recreate. The fact that you can create great content in your own backyard with simple poses is one of the coolest parts about Instagram to me! Let’s get into it; here are my top 8 poses for Instagram!!
How to Pose for Instagram Photos!! (part 1)
How to Pose for Instagram Photos!! (part 2!)
leg out in front
Placing one leg in front of the other is always my first move whenever shooting. This ensures that I get a good, solid photo of the outfit before I try out some of the more crazy poses. Not to mention, this pose makes you look a little taller 😉
simple sit
Sit on things! The majority of outfit Instagram posts are taken standing up, so I always try to throw in a few sitting shots here in there to add a little variety!
hands on hips
Hands on hip is another easy standing up pose, but is still just as cute. Adds a little bit of sass to the outfit too!
foot in camera
Shooting from a low angle adds so much dynamic and depth to a photo, that it is always a go-to for me. Plus, adding a foot in the camera creates a bit of spunk.
hair flip!
Adding movement to photos is essential and a hair flip is the cutest way to do it. Try it out next time you’re stuck in a rut when it comes to poses.
hand rested on face
For close-ups, I always make sure I’m moving my hand around to create a better visual shot. Resting it on your face or holding it out towards the camera are two great ways to do it.
jump
Whenever I see jumping shots on Instagram, I hit the like button super fast! They’re always so cool and editorial. That’s why it’s one of my go-tos!
a cute twirl
The same thing I said about jumping goes for twirling. Twirling is such a happy, carefree pose and I always smile whenever I see it on my feed. Feeling funky? Throw in a dance move like a spin to your normal shoot poses!
Woohoo, there are my top 8 simple poses for Instagram! I hope you all enjoyed this post and that it gave you some new ideas for next time you go out and shoot your own looks. Leave a comment below with any questions, blog post requests, or really anything that you want. Thanks so much for reading!
