During the school year, it is inevitable that you’ll run late at least once. For me, I’m on time for the better half of the year then slowly get to school later and later until tardy slips are one bell away or in my hand. And as a lot of us know, just because you wake up late doesn’t mean it has to look like you woke up late. Which is exactly what I’m here to show you today! I’m going to walk you through a quick 5-minute makeup routine that covers all the angles, a 5-minute cute hair look, and a basic outfit that is stylish, yet super fast to put together. Let’s get to it!!
Make sure to check out my other back-to-school posts from this year and last year once you’re done with this post!! Just click on the title of the post you wanna read, and it’ll take you right to it 🙂

MAKEUP
Disclaimer: I am not saying you have to wear make up at all (I personally don’t wear makeup to school), so this section can be easily skipped for those of you it doesn’t apply to 🙂
First of all, eyebrows are a must!! If your natural eyebrows already slay, brush them out quickly with a spooly or gel them down. If you’re like me, and have non-existent eyebrows, fill them in lightly to enhance their color and shape. The beauty gurus are not wrong when they say eyebrows can shape a face, they’re vital! Next, place concealer on any problem areas (no time for a full-face of foundation), blend, and swipe on mascara. Put on some chap stick/lip gloss because dry lips are no fun and this adds a little color. Finally, dab a glittery highlight or eye shadow on the inner corner of your eye to make you seem a bit more awake than late mornings can make ya.

Me putting on that concealer!!
HAIR
This hairstyle I’m about to show you is the actual CUTEST, and I can’t believe I didn’t know it sooner. The first time I ever did this look it took me about 4 and 1/2 minutes (no joke, I timed it), so I have full faith that this may just be the perfect, stylish hairstyle for when you’re running late. If you want to see a video version of this look, go watch Avrey Ovard’s youtube video where she gives a tutorial on this look!
This look is a pull-through ponytail that closely resembles a fishtail once it is done, but unlike a fishtail is wayyy easier! Here are the steps:
- Separate your hair into 2 sections and make pigtails.
2. Tie an elastic 3-4 inches down from the top of the pigtail.
3. Create a hole in the section you just made and push the rest of the ponytail through.
4. Repeat this all the way down the pigtail and then do the same steps on the other pigtail!
And viola! There you have it, a pretty and easy hairstyle for whenever you don’t wake up on the first alarm!
OUTFIT
For the outfit portion of this post, I made sure to choose one that had basic pieces almost everyone should have in their closet. For my look I chose a pair of denim flared jeans and knotted-up a cute graphic tee, then threw on some snazzy tennis shoes! Here’s a checklist for your own running late look:
- Denim Bottoms (skinny jeans, flared jeans, denim skirt, overalls, etc.)
- Graphic Tee (tuck it in, wear it loose, knot it up)
- Tennis Shoes or Sandals (a pair of cute ones, but easy to throw on when reushing out the door)
It’s as simple as those three items! Of course, if you find yourself with a bit of extra time after having breakfast and packing for the day, throw on some accessories to make it look like you put way more thought into your look than you actually did 😉 Also, planning out outfits the night before is always a safe way to make sure you look fashionable everyday, no matter what time you wake up!
Although I hope you all are always on time to school and work the rest of the year, this post is here for ya when you need it! I hope you enjoyed this post and learned a thing or two for next time you’re running late. Let me know in the comments if you have any blog post requests or questions. Thanks so much for reading!
💜Love, Olivia

Oooh these are super cute and easy! I don’t wear makeup (only mascara sometimes) and I wear the hijab so I’m automatically saved from the first two 😂 But the outfit is a whole different story. I end up just staring at my closet thinking there’s nothing to wear and my mom says to donate some clothing if I want to get new ones. Problem is every time I want to get rid of a piece, I always find a reason to keep it. 😂 I’ll try to pick out my outfits the day before from now on haha. Anyways, love those denim wide pants – I’m obsessed with wide pants at the moment. Great post!
