February Photography + Moments

Ahh… the end of the second month of the year is here, and with that comes Monthly Moments post #2! These posts include blog and insta round-ups, my highlights (and occasionally low lights) of the month, and my photography from the past 28-30 days.

Overall, February was filled with a lot of ups for me, and one major down that affected all of us. Yes, this month was filled with fun times with friends, some fun blog posts (my photo and editing game has been majorly upped!), lots of outdoors-y times, and a retreat, but in the end it was the Parkland school shooting that occupied my brain for the majority of the month. I will be posting a full-length blog on the shooting within the next week, but for now I want to remind you all that action is needed. The devastation that has been felt nation-wide is horrible, and there are many steps that can be taken to prevent the feeling from ever coming around again. Call your senator, sign petitions, educate yourself on gun reform, just do whatever you can to help stop lives being lost another time. Now is not a time to be silent. Thank you for reading this, and now into the post:

Here is the easy way for you to catch up on the posts you may have missed in February! The blog posts will be ordered by date with a small blurb to tell you what it is about, and the Insta posts are in a collage. After you finish this post, make sure to scroll back up here and check out the blogs you never got a chance to read this January! Just click on the title of the post you want to view, and it will take you straight to it.

January Photography + Moments: I kicked off February the same way I am ending it, with the Monthly Moments post for January. The first month of 2018 was a busy one, and because I’m trying to get more personal with you all, I shared tons of my life events! Read it to see my January photos and highlights.

Sister Style: Be My Valentine: With red and pink being my fav color combo, there was no way a Valentine’s Day Lookbook wasn’t going to appear on the blog. I decided to make it a Sister Style to show off different ways to create a V-day ootd since my sister and I have such different styles. Even though the title includes the holiday, these outfits can give you inspiration for any time of year!

Love at First Listen: My Winter Playlist: I always love reading playlist posts to see what you guys are jamming to, so I thought, why not share my own Winter Playlist on here? It includes everything from Camila Cabello to Zella Day, and I hope you can find the perfect song you’ve been searching for, and it’ll be love at first listen 🙂

What Even is a Feminist?: The post of the month goes to this one! It’s a collab with Cal, one of my best blogger friends, where we collected photos of people we know and followers who identify as feminists. The main point of it is to show that feminists are and can be all different types of people, and that feminism is a positive movement for change. We both worked super hard on this, so check it out!

What to do When You’re Having An AWFUL Week: We all have the weeks where nothing seems to be going right, and it affects out mood horribly. Well, I had one of those weeks earlier this month, but instead of wallowing in self-pity, I made a blog post all about what to do when those weeks happen to YOU! In the post, you’ll find my top 5 tips for dealing with a no-good week.

How to Style A Unique Watch + A GIVEAWAY!!: Wrist watches are one of the most timeless accessories around (pun intended), and I show y’all how to style them so that they stand out in this post! It’s in partnership with JORD, and a giveaway where everyone wins is included. So go enter that, and learn how to style your watch!

Upcoming Spring Trends As Seen on NYFW Runways: As the days get warmer, our outfits start getting more summer-ready, and I want you all to be on top of the trends that are coming up before summer begins! Everything from geometric min bags to square necklines is on the Spring Trend List. I’ve also linked cheaper versions of the runway looks for you to check out and maybe buy.

Instagram 101 Series: February marked my one-year anniversary on Instagram, and I wanted to ring that in by writing an Instagram advice and tips series for you all. The 3-part post was about Getting Engagement, Getting Real, and Getting Connected, and were all to help you grow your following and influence on social media. Here are the links:

February 3: I spent the day downtown with my dad and sister, Camille. We shot for the Valentine’s Day Sister Style post at an extremely unique hotel and at our local library. Luckily, the shoot was timed just right, as it was the grand re-opening of the downstairs section of the library after cool and extensive renovations. It included an amazing mural, a reading deck, the coolest wall (featured in my Insagram 101 photo above), and of course, the best book displays! Spending the day with family is always one of the greatest ways to do so.

February 9: My friends and I were back at it again with a wonderful dinner party for Valentine’s or Galentine’s Day if you will 🙂 We all made a small dish and brought some candy for each other to chow on, and it was also a surprise party for our friend, Lizzie! We made a sign for her and bought a cake (then smashed it in her face hehe). We hung out, ate, then had a dance party until it was time to head back home. Needless to say, it was a night for the books!

February 16: My first portrait photo shoot of the year happened on this day, and all the photos I took turned out absolutely fantastic! You can see some of the photos in the photography section of this post and view the rest in my Instagram 101: Getting Connected post. My beautiful friend Eliza modeled for me, and we shot on tennis courts, which I highly recommend for any of you photographers out there as the small space never runs out of unique places to shoot. After the shoot, we went on a nice walk by the river and stopped at a market downtown to continue our good times!

February 21: This day is my dad’s birthday!! We celebrated him with cake, lots of gifts, and homemade cards. He’s the one who always plays tennis with me, helps me with the tech side of Absolutely Olivia, and takes some of the photos you see on my Insta and blog. Without his support, there’s no way I would’ve been able to do as much as I have on the blog!

February 23-25: Another weekend, another Young Life retreat! We headed to a fun little camp up north to spend a couple days together in cabins. We hiked a mountain for the gorgeous views (it was a straight uphill climb whew!), played a lot of 9-square, I jumped in the freezing cold lake purely for the refreshment, attempted to climb walls, danced for hours and hours on end, and slid down a giant hill covered in vaseline-soaked tarps on inner tubes! It was an amazing way to spend time with wonderful friends, and live our life to the full.

Here’s the section you’ve all been waiting for!  From people to nature, this month’s photo set makes me super happy, and I can’t wait for more to come in March 🙂

February was overall a pretty good month, and hopefully it was the same way for you all!  I hope y’all enjoyed this post and found inspiration for new adventures in the month ahead.  Leave a comment below about something fun you did this month, and feel free to drop any questions or blog posts ideas you may have as well.  Thanks for reading!!

💜Love, Olivia
