January Photography + Moments

Although it has felt like February too many times to count already, January still went by way too fast! To give you all (and my future self) a glimpse into my personal life, I’ve decided to start a new monthly series on the blog called Monthly Moments. Just like in this post, it will include a blog and Instagram round-up, my highlights of that month, and my photography from the past 30 days or so! It makes me so excited that I get to share with you all a bit more of my life each month, so without further ado here is, January’s Moments and Photography!!

First, I’m going to share with you all a quick blog and Instagram round-up, so that you all can easily catch up on the posts you may have missed! The blog posts will be ordered by date with a small blurb to tell you what it is about, and the Insta posts will be put into a collage. After you finish this post, make sure to scroll back up here and check out the blogs you never got a chance to read this January! Just click on the title of the post you want to view, and it will take you straight to it.

18 Goals for 2018: Every #GIRLBOSS must have year goals, so check out this post to find out what mine are this year. They cover everything from the blog and Instagram to health and helping out in my community! Also, there will be quarterly check-ups to let you know if I’m meeting my goals or not.

30 Day Styling Challenge Intro: For January, I decided to challenge myself to style outfits with stand-out pieces, outfits with overloads of accessories, outfits using only one color, and more; all to help me work towards the cool and unique wardrobe I’m looking for. This is the introduction post where you can learn more about the challenge and check out my first 4 looks that I created.

How to Make AND Reach Your Goals: Motivation Tips: I know from experience that it can be super hard to make and meet every single one of your goals, that’s why I wrote post on exactly how I do it! There are tips that talk about holding yourself accountable and making goals that are very specific. Read this if you’re struggling to keep those resolutions from the beginning of the year!

#TimesUp on Sexual Assault: It’s awful that the conversation about sexual assault is just now getting a kick start in 2017, and disgusting that sexual assault is still happening to 1 in 5 women and 1 in 16 men, and that’s only in colleges. A lot of times the victims are left ashamed and silenced for fear of what will happen if they speak out. I decided to share my opinions on the #TimesUp movement, and included various organizations that you can donate to.

30 Day Styling Challenge: Week 2 + Seven Outfit Ideas: The styling challenge I mentioned before wasn’t just a passing thing, but something that I held myself accountable for each week. By sharing my daily ootd with you all, I’m hoping to inspire you all to go outside of the box in your outfits for a month or more; all to expand your wardrobe with the clothing already in it.

Solo Style: The Jacket to Keep You Warm This Winter ft. Members Only: When Members Only reached out to send me a couple bombers, I couldn’t have said yes fast enough! The lovely jacket featured in this post is so freaking warm and also very stylish. Check it out to see how I styled it and where you can find it as well πŸ™‚

Get to Know Me Better: 10 Facts About the Girl Behind the Blog: One of the biggest requests I got when I asked what type of posts you all wanted to see this year was more personal posts. And the best way to start off a year full of personal posts is, of course, a 10 Facts About Me post. I tried to stray away from the typical facts people include in these posts, and really give you interesting ones about me. If you feel as if you don’t know me as well as you want to, read this post!!

30 Day Styling Challenge: Week 3 + Seven Outfit Ideas: Week 3 of the styling challenge was different than the past weeks because these outfits were finally completely unique looks! I spent a lot of time in front of my closet wanting to create outfits that were truly ME, and I can happily say that was the results I got this week. Check’em out πŸ™‚

4 Ways to Layer a Turtleneck: Turtlenecks have become winter wardrobe essentials, so I wanted to share with you all 4 ways that I style mine in hopes to give you new ways to style your own. From wearing them under a dress to under a button-down, these looks need to make their way into your winter style.

Day in the Life: School, Tennis, Younglife, and MORE: Another highly-requested post was a Day in the Life, so I shared one of my typical Mondays with ya. I take you through my school day, my tennis practice, and my nightly activities. Throughout the year, I can’t wait to share more of my days with you all!

30 Day Styling Challenge: Week 4 + Seven Outfit Ideas: In week 4 of the styling challenge, it was a whole lot easier for me to choose stand out looks on the daily. That’s why I recommend this challenge to everyone. It has led me to think quickly when trying to find an outfit different from anything I’ve seen before, and I’m LOVING IT!

Two of My Most ‘Olivia’ Looks: This style post tied in with the styling challenge because I chose two outfits that were stand-out and were inherently me. They’re both quite different from each other, but the edge they share is undeniable. To learn more about exactly what I think my personal style is, this post is for you!

30 Day Styling Challenge Recap: Ahhh… the wonderful styling challenge had to come to an end, but it’s effects and the evolution of my style it had on me will be remembered and used for the rest of the year. In this post, I recapped my top 5 outfits from the month and what it taught me. Who knows, maybe I’ll even do another 30 Day Challenge again… πŸ˜‰

January 1: I kicked off the new year down at the beach with all my family, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and cousins. We didn’t do anything too special except for go to this fancy hotel for appetizers where we ran around on the lawn and happily danced in the ballroom. We watched the New Year’s Rockin’ Eve on TV to see the ball drop at midnight!

January 12: The second week back at school was full of exams, but a basketball game can easily take that stress away for a little while. So I went to my school basket ball game after eating a quick dinner with friends. All the students wore neon, which is always my favorite theme night because it’s cool to see everyone in the student section so bright, and our team won!!

January 14: My mom, sister, and I took a Girl’s Day, and went to Kaminsky’s, a yummy dessert place, for $5 sundaes! We got the Brownie Sundae and probably ate the whole thing in about 5 minutes. Then we walked around downtown for a while and popped into a couple stores. Overall, I had fun bonding with two of my fav people πŸ˜‰

January 20: One of my friends, Ally, is a fantastic photographer and wanted to do more of a conceptualized/editorial shoot with me and some of my other friends. We all wore primary colors and did cool makeup looks, then posed at the park. It was kind of funny having all the kids run around us while we tried to do our best at “modeling”. The photos turned out so freaking amazing though!

January 22: Woohoooo, this day was All-City Young Life Club! For those of you who don’t know what that is, it is a youth group for high-schoolers that is WAY more fun than youth group should ever be! Normally club is just with kids from your school, but All-City is with the 7 others schools in your area. We danced like crazy, sang at the top of our lungs, and listened to a small devotional at the end. It was a great time, and super duper cool to hang out with kids from all over!

January 26: Another Friday night, another Basketball game πŸ™‚ It was the Homecoming game for my school, and the student section theme was Black Out. Just like the first time, I went to dinner with my friends beforehand then headed over to the game a little early to see the announcing of Homecoming court. We won again, I’m pretty sure our basketball team hasn’t lost a game, but don’t take my word for it! (Also sorry I don’t have a photo from this game)

Now for the part of the post you’ve all been waiting for… my January Photography! Last year, I only did quarterly photography posts, but to please you all (photo posts are my top viewed and liked posts!) and also motivate myself to take more photos; I decided to do monthly photography instead. You’re welcome πŸ˜‰
