A lot of times when I read outfit posts, I always wonder what was going on during the actual shoot. How did they decide where to take pictures? Did they ever get hot wearing pants in the middle of June? Did they do anything before or after the shoot or did they go to the location only for pictures? How did they decide the angles?
The last Solo Style I shot called The More Than Perfect Summer Dress was my favorite I have done and was exciting to do, so today I am doing a little Behind the Scenes of that, just to show you what it’s like during an Absolutely Olivia outfit shoot. The dress gave me a summery vibe, which made me think of water, fields, and cobblestone walkways (this might sound crazy, so let me know in the comments if your clothing items remind you of certain things and places). I had recently driven through a small town called Camden in South Carolina, and I decided it was the perfect place to shoot for this dress. Camden has a quaint little downtown with cool alleyways, a beautiful state park, and some old 18th century homes that were around during the American Revolutionary War. These were great locations for my shoot and I took full advantage of them.
Before heading out to Camden, I made sure I packed all my beauty essentials in a little purse.
My whole family tagged along and we stopped to have a picnic lunch at Goodale State Park and this also happened to be the first location for the photos! It was a bit hot, but felt lovely in the shade. There was a swamp beyond the field, which turned out to be a wonderful backdrop for photos.

After that, we rode into the downtown area (pretty nice for a small town 😂) and stopped for some pictures in an alleyway. Here we tried different angles, using some that showed the street in the background and others that were shot from the ground, giving my 5’3” frame the illusion of tallness. As we were leaving, a gorgeous white wall with black lamps made us make a quick U-turn and park so we could snap a few more shots!
Our last destination of the day was the historical American Revolutionary War park where a small battle was fought. Log cabins, a fort, and a giant white house are found here. By now, it was scorching out in the sun (97 degrees to be exact), and I found myself lifting the dress up as I walked to feel the wind on my legs and cool myself down! Nonetheless, my family and I pushed through and learned a bit more about the war while shooting pictures at the same time.
Hey MTV, welcome to my crib 😉

This little Behind the Scenes was just to show you a peek into what goes on during blog shoots and how you can make a day out of it. Overall, Camden was such a fantastic place to shoot the Solo Style pictures. All the photos turned out stunning and the locations were splendid. Thanks for reading!

Who takes the pictures for you? My mom doesn’t know how to use my camera, so I normally have to try and do something on my own or use my phone!
