On my last post, Solo Style: Chill Day, I wore my hair in a chic take on the regular boxer braids, and several people commented on how much they liked them! Whenever I am having a bad hair day or wake up rocking second-day, even third-day hair or just running late I always turn to the ever so simple boxer braids. After realizing I styled my hair into the same braids at least 3 times a week, I decided I
really desperately needed to change/ step them up in some way! 😅 So in came the bubble braids (not sure if that is what they are actually called, but hey, it goes!)
Here is a step-by-step tutorial so you too can step up your old braid game:
You will need:
-A tail comb (optional)
-Bobby pins (optional)
To start off, I parted my hair down the middle and into two halves. I also tied off the section I would not be using first just to make sure I would not get the hairs mixed up! Since, the top half of this look is a dutch braid I took a small section of hair from the top of my head, then began to braid it down, adding hair as I go. (If you do not know how to dutch braid I recommend finding a tutorial on that before trying this hairstyle)
Once I had braided to the end of my hairline along my neck, I tied it off with a elastic band, to create a cute little pigtail.
I then added another elastic about an inch or so down from the top one, and began to lightly pull the hair apart, like shown above, until it creates a bubble like look.
Above is how the part of the ponytail should look after pulling it apart. To end this style, continue to section off parts of your ponytail and pull it apart so when you reach the end, they all look like “bubbles.” Also, don’t forget to repeat this on the other side;)
The finished look:
Thanks for reading and a big thank you for all the support on my last post. I was definitely branching off from what I normally do, but it was a nice change and I enjoyed writing The Future is Female!
